I am always attending professional developments to better myself for my students. Education is an ever changing field and requires a teacher to be a life long learner. I can’t expect my students to become life long learners if I am not one myself.
I started at Stephen F. Austin Elementary in 2012. I taught 1st grade self-contained for 4 years. I taught 4th grade math and science ESL for 3 years. I am currently the Math Interventionist for K-5. This will be my 9th year at SFA, but my 12th year in the district.
I started teaching in Dayton ISD at Richter Elementary in 2009 as a Special Education Teacher for 3rd grade Mathematics. I taught in that position for 3 years before moving to 1st grade General Education.
Before I started at Richter, I co-taught for one year in a Pre-K 4 year old class at Preschool Weekday Ministries in Dayton, TX.
My husband Brandon and I got married in 2005. We are both graduates of Dayton High School, Class of 2002. We have three children. Our oldest son is in 7th grade this year. Our daughter is in 4th grade. Our youngest boy is in Kindergarten. We have a cat and a dog.
We love doing things together as a family and do as often as possible. We love the water (fresh and salt) and try to be around it a lot. We enjoy attending Astros games and Texans games, but if we can’t attend, they will definitely be found on our t.v.! We also love FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and watching the Dayton Broncos on the field! Camping is a favorite past time of ours as well. Traveling is something we wish we could do more of, but definitely enjoy it when we can.
My hobbies include scrapbooking, crafting, and baking. I love spending time reading a good book, playing with my children, and visiting family out of town. Our favorite place to go is Florida. We love visiting the beaches and Disneyworld.
